I saw Paranormal Activity this weekend. I heard it was supposed to be the scariest movie ever. I also was told it was based on a true story. I cannot find any information stating that is true. Some say yes some say no, that the director got the idea from a house he and his wife lived in that made creaking noises. But nevertheless I went in to see this movie believing that was supposed to be based on real happenings.
When the movie started I at first thought “Oh boy this is going to be silly”. It is a movie shot with a cam. It starts with the couple talking about getting the cam and using it to document when weird things happen again that have been happening. I don’t want to give a lot of the movie away for those who have not seen it. But it shows them sleeping each night and the things that happen. The ending will shock you and leave you a little freaked.
It is not the outright scariest movie I have ever seen. But it has its moments, when you wonder can this be real is this really happening? So the movie ends and I enjoyed it. I wasn’t scared out of my wits but I did enjoy it.
The thing is when I went to bed that night the movie stayed in my mind. I couldn’t shake it. I kept waking up feeling like something had just jumped in my bed. I know I woke up at least 5 times and turned on the light beside my bed expecting to see my cat but nothing was there. I could not go use the bathroom without turning on the light before getting out of bed. I had a very restless night of sleep. So I say yes the movie did scare me. It didn’t do it so much as I was watching. It was the after effects that got to me.
We have all I am sure heard a sound in the night that woke us and got up to investigate to find nothing. It usually takes a few to get back to sleep after that because your sure you heard or felt something but there is nothing to be seen to prove it.
It is not gore and blood it is a scare with the imagination of what may be out there. It is a scare of something happening to us that cannot be seen or explained no matter how much you might try.
Paranormal Activity gets a Rave review from me. It cost me a good night’s sleep, but isn’t that what a scary movie is supposed to do?
Glad to know Im not the only one http://goodshxt.wordpress.com
